In order to make party planning fun a great theme is needed. The best part of the party planning is coming up with creative themes that will have your guests raving for weeks after the party.

2. Party Planning Ideas -Location and Date

I love throwing parties at home. Parties at home can last for hours and you can decorate and plan for the party on your own time and the way you want. Of course you have to think will my home fit the guests comfortably, will I have help with the clean-up afterwards, and will I be able to enjoy myself as well.

Sometimes a home party is just not doable. But always remember that having a party some place else will cost you more. So if you are on a budget having the party at home is the way to go.

Choose a date that will accommodate the guests. Ask ahead of time the people you plan on inviting. Make a phone call and get a round about date that would work for everyone.

Now I know that's hard to do but at least you try to accommodate everyone you plan on inviting. If a few can't make it no biggy.

3. Party Planning Ideas -Invitations

The Invitation has to match the theme of the party so your guests have an idea of what to expect. This will get all your guests exited for what's to come. It sets the mood for the whole party so the invitation means a lot in your party planning.

4. Party Planning Ideas -Decorations

The theme of the party all ties in with the party decorations. You don't need to spend lots of money to decorate. Balloons, candles, streamers, ribbon, etc… are great decorations and don't cost a lot. For a theme party don't forget to get a theme tablecloth, paper plates, paper cups, and napkins.

5. Party Planning Ideas -Food

Party food doesn't need to be extravagant. Keep it simple. You can make finger foods, sandwiches, or simple appetizers. Or you can order a pizza or cater. Keep your time open to decorate and plan the activities for the party. You also want to have fun planning the party. Don't overwhelm yourself and try to do everything yourself. If you plan on cooking for the party share the responsibilities. Ask guests to bring a specialty dish. This works best for the holidays.
