Fun Games To Keep Your Kids From Getting Bored

in Kid

If you are a parent or an educator, you know that kids are always more focused when they have something specific to do. The more fun the activity, the easier it is to keep their attention. Here are a few kids games that can come in handy when you need to keep your kids from becoming bored.

Hangman

Hangman is a simple kids game played with paper and pencil. One person picks a word or phrase and places dashes on the paper to hold the place of each letter. Each player chooses a letter in turn. If they guess correct, the letter is filled in over each appropriate dash. If they guess wrong, a part of the hangman is added. If the hangman is completely drawn before the word or phrase is guessed, the person who chose the word or phrase wins. This kids game creates lots of conversation and social interaction. This is a great kids game to play when the power goes out.

Eye Spy

Eye Spy is a great kids game to play when you are stuck somewhere, like the a store's checkout line. The game moves along pretty quickly so it is perfect for when you may only have a minute or two and need to keep your kids engaged. Each person takes a turn picking out an object they see and say, “I spy with my little eye, something that begins with F.” F is just an example, whatever letter the object begins with is the letter they say. Then everybody tries to guess the object. Once it is identified, the next person picks an object and the game starts again. This kids game can be used to help practice shapes and colors too. This is especially good for younger children. Instead of stating the letter the object begins with, you state its shape or color.

Alphabet Plate

When you are in the car with your kids, it can be difficult to keep them from getting bored.

Alphabet Plate is one of the best kids games to keep them engaged and also help them practice their letters. Since you are on the road, there are plenty of license plates around. Using only the first letter on any plate, the object is to construct the alphabet from A to Z. For variety, you can start with any letter and move forward or backward. The game can also be played with the numbers. Although in this variation it is a good idea to change the plate requirement from the first digit to the last because most states group letters first and numbers last on their license plates.

Not All Together Now

Singing kids games are a lot of fun. Pick a song that everybody knows the words to, Old MacDonald or Jack and Jill, for example. Decide on an order in which each person will participate. The first person sings the first word of the song. The second person sings the second word and it continues on like this until the song is finished or only one person is left singing. If someone takes too long or sings the wrong word, they sit out for the rest of the song.
